In our week 5 lecture for DES241 Mr Billinghurst began to elaborate more in detail with AR. From earlier lectures, Mr Billinghurst explained the importance of presence when it comes to creating mixed reality content, and how it affects the users interaction with the experience. Mr Billinghurst axplained that although Augmented reality is a mixed reality, the idea of presences does differ to that of a Virtual reality experience, as when creating a Virtual reality experience you want the user to feel they are within that space, where AR does not do this.

An AR experience that I use to really be into was the mobile game Pokemon Go. Pokemon G was released in 2016, with it being an instant hit. The experience with Pokemon Go is different as it creates this idea of presences through the in game use of the camera and navigation system, however, there is a sense where the user is still not fully captivated by the game. Because of this, the idea to create a mixed reality experience does not need to be heavily influenced by presence, but need to generate a small feeling of that presence.
